The Benbrook Bobcats opened the new year needing a reset. After a three-game slide capped by a one-point loss to Mineral Wells, the Bobcats hit the road to open district play against the Eastern Hills Highlanders with something to prove.
The Bobcats set the tone early. Jayden Bradshaw knocked down a three and followed with a layup to spark a quick 5 to 0 run. The first quarter stayed tight, but the Bobcats carried a 10 to 6 lead into the break.
The Highlanders responded in the second, cutting the gap to a single point by halftime. With the game threatening to swing, Brennan Barton put the team on his back, scoring all nine of the Bobcats’ second-quarter points to keep the Bobcats ahead 19 to 18.
Barton stayed in rhythm after the break, helping the Bobcats stretch the lead to 27 to 22 by the end of the third. Then came the closing act.

Barton took over the fourth quarter, pouring in 16 points and repeatedly getting to the free-throw line, shooting 10-15. His steady scoring sealed a 47-37 win and ended the losing streak.
Barton finished with 32 points on the night. Bradshaw added seven, and the bench provided timely support to close it out.
The win lifts the Bobcats to 14-9 overall and 1-0 in district play, a strong start to 2026. Benbrook now gets a short break before returning home to face Carter Riverside next Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
