After several days of quiet mailboxes across Benbrook, residents are finally starting to see familiar white postal trucks back on neighborhood streets.
Widespread ice and slick neighborhood roads forced the United States Postal Service to pause delivery in parts of the city, especially in areas where smaller mail vehicles could not safely navigate untreated streets. Many households reported their last delivery arriving late last week, with no service through the weekend and into early this week.
While highways and major roads cleared faster, neighborhood conditions remained rough enough to keep carriers off their routes. That caution, while frustrating for residents waiting on mail, helped keep postal workers safe during the worst of the freeze.
By late Wednesday morning, January 28, residents began spotting postal trucks again on streets like Mildred, Jerry Dunn Parkway, Winscott/Timbercreek, and nearby areas, signaling that delivery is gradually resuming as road conditions improve.
Delivery timing may still vary by neighborhood as carriers work through backlogs and assess remaining icy spots. For service updates or general information, residents can visit https://www.usps.com.
As the thaw continues, Benbrook mailboxes should start filling again, one careful route at a time.
