Western Hills Cougars baseball spent the weekend in Arlington and came home tested, a little bruised, and still swinging.
The Cougars finished 1-2 in tournament play, showing steady offense and resilience throughout.
In the opener, Henrietta set the tone early and held control.
Game two against Seguin turned into a back-and-forth battle. Western Hills entered the bottom of the fourth tied 5 to 5 before a few late errors shifted momentum.
Even as Seguin pulled ahead, the Cougars stayed engaged to the final out.
Game three delivered the response they were looking for.
The Cougars erupted for seven runs in the first inning. Tyler Johnston sparked the surge with a two-out, two-strike bases-clearing triple that cracked the game open.
On the mound, Axel Sanchez struck out eight in three innings, keeping Dallas TJ in check. The Cougars secured a 9-5 win to close the weekend.
Now the focus shifts home. Western Hills hosts Alvarado tonight at 6:30 pm.
After a weekend that showed both growing pains and firepower, the Cougars return to their field ready to build momentum in front of their home crowd.
