Low Turnout, Big Decisions: Less Than 5% of Tarrant Voters Cast Ballots Ahead of May 3 Election.

Benbrook and Tarrant County voters are heading into a key local election with surprisingly low early turnout.

Out of 1.28 million registered voters, just under 5%—around 63,000 people—cast their ballots early by mail or in person during the April 22–29 voting window.

This election includes races for city councils, school boards, the Tarrant Regional Water District, and the Tarrant County College board. The Mansfield Subcourthouse led early voting sites with over 5,000 ballots, followed by Colleyville and Keller. Meanwhile, turnout was lightest in Azle and parts of south Fort Worth.

Though early voting dipped below 2023’s numbers, Election Day (May 3) is still expected to bring the biggest wave of voters. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and residents can vote at any polling site in the county.
