Why Is It So Smoky in Benbrook? If you’re smelling smoke across Benbrook today, you’re not alone.
The Ross Fire, northwest of Mineral Wells near Possum Kingdom Lake, is the main source. As of Wednesday morning, the wildfire had grown to about 82,000 acres and was 12% contained. Winds from the west-northwest are pushing smoke toward Benbrook and the Fort Worth area.
Also around noon Wednesday, Benbrook fire crews responded to several reports of smoke and haze near Twilight Drive South and surrounding neighborhoods, according to CrimeRadar.app. Crews initially found no clear signs of an active fire nearby.
Other grass fire and smoke calls were reported Wednesday in Fort Worth, including near Seminary Drive and Hemphill Street and the 3100 block of Lackland Road.
