Benbrook residents had a chance Saturday to sit down, ask questions, and hear directly from two candidates hoping to join the City Council.
Greg Clem, running for Place 4, and Whitney Hughes, running for Place 6, held their first community rally at the Benbrook Public Library. Dozens of residents attended the afternoon gathering, which included a presentation from the candidates and an open conversation about Benbrook.
Hughes said she appreciated the questions from residents and described the discussion as “really eye-opening.” She and Clem are campaigning together under the One Benbrook banner and plan to hold another gathering next month.
Both seats are contested in the Nov. 3 Benbrook municipal election. Clem is challenging current Place 4 Councilmember Dustin Phillips, while Hughes is challenging current Place 6 Councilmember Laura Mackey.
Saturday gave Benbrook residents a chance to put faces to the campaign signs, ask their own questions, and get to know the candidates a little better. Don’t miss the next meeting date.
