A tough start to the week turned into a much better Friday night for Western Hills volleyball.
After falling to South Hills Lady Scorpions earlier in the week, the Lady Cougars returned home and delivered their first win of the season under new head coach Rheagan Whitefield.
The Lady Cougars swept the Polytechnic lady Parrots in three sets, battling through a 30-25 opener before taking control with back-to-back 25-19 wins. For a Lady Cougars roster featuring a veteran core alongside several newcomers, it was an early glimpse of what this group could become as the season unfolds.
Next comes a busy stretch. Western Hills travels to Castleberry on Tuesday, Aug. 18, before varsity competes in the FWISD Varsity Tournament Aug. 20 and 22.
District play begins Sept. 8 against Dunbar, with two matchups against Benbrook coming Sept. 18 at Western Hills and Oct. 13 at Benbrook.
