A Benbrook Chinese restaurant voluntarily closed Wednesday, October 14, after a Tarrant County Public Health inspection uncovered multiple food safety violations and city officials intervened.

WOW House Chinese Restaurant, located in the 8900 block of Benbrook Highway, received an inspection score of 69, and inspectors documented concerns about food temperatures, sanitation, pest control, and improper food storage.

Among the most serious violations, inspectors found prepared chicken, beef, and vegetables stored between 49ยฐF and 53ยฐF, above the required maximum of 41ยฐF. The restaurant’s prep cooler measured 53ยฐF, while its walk-in cooler reached 59ยฐF.

Inspectors also reported flies throughout the restaurant, employees failing to wash their hands between tasks, uncovered raw chicken, improperly stored eggs, and inadequate sanitizing procedures.

According to the inspection report, the manager was instructed around 3:30 p.m. to voluntarily discard food stored at unsafe temperatures. However, the restaurant reportedly continued taking orders and serving customers.

The City of Benbrook was then notified, and a city official arrived to assist with enforcement. The restaurant subsequently agreed to close voluntarily and discard the affected food.

A follow-up inspection was scheduled for Thursday, October 15, to determine whether the violations had been corrected.

The restaurant’s reopening status remains unconfirmed. Residents can review the complete findings in the official Tarrant County Public Health inspection report.
