FWISD Candidates Focus on Superintendent Accountability After Leadership Shake-Up.

Following the sudden resignation of former Superintendent Angélica Ramsey, candidates in the May 3 Fort Worth ISD school board election are emphasizing the importance of superintendent accountability.

Six candidates are running for three seats, and all are expected to play a key role in evaluating new Superintendent Karen Molinar by October 31, as outlined in her contract.

The evaluation will be based on FWISD’s five-year strategic plan and Molinar’s monthly performance updates.

  • District 1: Incumbent Camille Rodriguez, who opposed Ramsey’s exit, wants to support Molinar while ensuring accountability. Challenger Amanda Inay, a former FWISD teacher, says data transparency and regular performance updates are critical to serving students and teachers well.
  • District 7: Trustee Michael Ryan says Molinar’s evaluation will be simpler and goal-driven—no bonuses, just progress. Challenger Terry Roach criticizes the board for hiring Ramsey and says board meetings need more focus on real issues than on data slides.
  • District 9: Board President Roxanne Martinez supports using a new dashboard to track Molinar’s progress and boost public transparency. Challenger Robyne Kelly wants frequent updates tied to the strategic plan and isn’t afraid to ask tough questions on behalf of the community.

The race reflects a broader push for clearer oversight and stronger leadership in FWISD after recent board tensions.
