According to board president Roxanne Martinez, the Fort Worth ISD school board will revisit a five-year strategic plan during its January workshop after months of delays.
The plan aims to establish clear priorities, including measurable academic goals for the district. It follows the board’s rejection of an earlier version in August due to insufficient public input and unclear action steps.
Community feedback highlighted the need for a more concise plan aligned with board goals. Martinez hopes the revised proposal will provide clarity and actionable targets to guide the district’s growth and performance.
The workshop will also address the search for a new superintendent, a position that has been vacant since former Superintendent Angรฉlica Ramsey’s departure. Martinez emphasized that a strategic plan is crucial before appointing new leadership.
One key focus of the plan is improving literacy rates. The district has taken steps to improve accountability and parent engagement, including rolling out a parent portal for real-time academic updates and increasing the frequency of student progress reports.
The boardโs workshop is scheduled for January 14 at the Fort Worth ISD District Service Center.
