Friday night at Western Hills was about more than basketball. It was Senior Night for the Lady Cougars, a chance to honor the young women who have poured their time and heart into the program through a challenging season.
Entering the matchup against Diamond Hill Jarvis, Western Hills stood at 2-20 overall and 1-9 in district play. The Lady Eagles came in at 1-25. When the two teams last met, the Lady Cougars claimed a 26-15 win. This time, the stakes felt a little higher.
From the opening tip, Western Hills set the tone. High-energy defense led to early turnovers, and the Lady Cougars quickly turned those opportunities into points while keeping Diamond Hill off the board. The momentum never shifted.
By the final buzzer, Western Hills secured a 33-12 victory, earning their third win of the season and improving to 3-20 overall and 2-9 in district. More importantly, they gave their seniors a home finale to remember.
The Lady Cougars now turn their focus to a road test against a strong Southwest squad that defeated them earlier this season. With fresh confidence and a little momentum, they will look to finish the year on a high note.
