Benbrook pride was on full display this week inside the cafeteria at Benbrook Elementary School.
As part of her Eagle Project, MacKayla Stevens led a community-wide effort to paint a Benbrook Bulldog mural that quickly became more than just a piece of art.
Former teachers, past students, current staff, and classmates stopped by throughout the day to leave their handprints on the wall, turning the mural into a shared memory for generations of Bulldogs.
The project brought together volunteers from across the community, including students from the Benbrook Middle-High School National Art Honor Society and multiple school staff members who rolled up their sleeves to help. Laughter, conversation, and creativity filled the space as the mural took shape.
For MacKayla and her family, the day was about more than completing a project. It was about honoring the people and place that helped shape her. Judging by the turnout and the finished mural, Benbrook showed up in a big way.
The bulldog may be painted on the wall, but the pride behind it clearly runs much deeper.
