Just a short drive from Benbrook, downtown Fort Worth added a striking new landmark this week as Sundance Square revealed what is now considered the largest prairie mural in the world.
The massive 5,000-square-foot mural now wraps the exterior of the Sundance Square headquarters, bringing Texas native grasslands to life in vivid detail.
More than 120 species of native prairie plants are featured, each one hand-painted to reflect the ecosystems that have shaped North Texas for generations.
The mural was designed by artist James Prosek and brought to life through the installation work of Overall Murals, with support from a collaborative team of artists who helped translate the vision onto the building.
The finished piece serves as both public art and environmental storytelling, highlighting the role native grasses and plants play in soil health, wildlife habitats, and the broader Texas landscape.
Local leaders and artists involved in the project say the mural is meant to reconnect residents and visitors with the natural history that once covered much of the region, long before downtown streets and high rises took shape.
Now standing tall in the heart of Fort Worth, the prairie mural offers a reminder that even in the middle of the city, the roots of Texas still run deep.
