As winter weather is expected to impact much of Texas, the Texas Department of Transportation is urging drivers to stay off the roads this weekend unless travel is necessary.
TxDOT crews have been working ahead of the storm, treating highways and overpasses across the state. As of Thursday morning, more than 1 million gallons of brine had already been applied to reduce ice buildup and improve traction once temperatures drop.
Even with preparation underway, officials stress that icy conditions can still develop quickly and make travel dangerous. Staying home when possible helps reduce crashes and allows crews to focus on keeping major routes as safe as conditions allow.
For Benbrook residents and others across North Texas, just know that preparation is happening, but patience and caution will matter most as the weather arrives.
