A little friendly competition filled the tables Friday night as the Benbrook Senior Center hosted its first Friday Night Mahjong-style gathering, Mahjong & Moomoos.
Players age 50 and older gathered for an evening of mahjong, snacks, prizes, and plenty of laughs. Tables were organized by skill level for advanced beginner and intermediate players, giving everyone a chance to settle in and enjoy a few rounds with good company.
And yes, some players embraced the “Moomoos” part of the evening, too.
After a fun first night, organizers are already planning the next gathering. Friday Night Mahjong returns Oct. 16, this time with a Halloween theme.
If the friendly competition from the first night is any indication, players may want to get that date on the calendar.
