Friday nights are getting a little more social at the Benbrook Senior Activity Center.
The center is introducing Friday Night Mah Jong on Sept. 18, giving local players age 50 and older a chance to gather around the tables for an evening of tiles, conversation, and friendly competition.
The event runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and is intended for advanced beginner through intermediate players. Tables will be organized by skill level, and no instruction will be offered, so participants should already know how to play.
Players are asked to bring their 2026 NMJL card. Tablescapes, chips, and dips will be provided, and a $5 donation is required to use the Senior Center.
And despite the event’s playful “Mahjong & Moomoos” theme, wearing a muumuu is completely optional.
Come for the Mah Jong, stay for the laughs and good company.
