Help Local Baby in the Running for Baby of the Year.

Little Luciana Birkofer has already had quite a journey, and now the Benbrook baby has a chance to make a national splash.

Luciana is competing in Jessica Alba Presents Baby of the Year, where the winner will receive $25,000, appear in a national campaign for The Honest Company, and be featured in Variety. At the time of this writing, Luciana is sitting in sixth place as voting continues for the Top 10.

Her story began with a difficult start. Luciana was born with a breathing problem and spent time in the NICU. These days, her family describes her as a happy, determined little girl who fills the house with squeals, giggles, bouncing legs, and plenty of personality.

Peek-a-Boo is a favorite. So are crawling across pillow piles, waving, giving high fives, playing with the family dog and, like many babies, hunting down the TV remote. Her family says once Luciana learns how to do something, she is determined to do it herself.

If Luciana wins, her family plans to put the entire $25,000 toward her future, whether that eventually means college, trade school or another dream she chooses for herself.

Voting for the Top 10 closes Thursday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. PDT. Supporters can cast a daily vote, while donation-based votes benefit Baby2Baby and its work providing basic necessities to children in need.

Luciana’s story began in the NICU with her family hoping and praying for easier days ahead. Now she’s home, healthy, laughing, learning, and keeping everyone around her smiling. So Benbrook, let’s be and play a part of her story by cheering little Luci on with our votes.
