Tournament weekends can test a team’s resolve. The Benbrook Lady Bobcats felt that firsthand.
After dropping two games earlier in the weekend, Benbrook returned to the field Friday against Springtown and later Weatherford, searching for rhythm.
The opener against Springtown proved difficult. The Lady Porcupines’ bats came alive early, and Benbrook struggled to respond.
Natalya Muzquiz pitched four innings in the 10-0 loss, allowing 10 runs, three earned, on seven hits while striking out two. At the plate, Madison Canada provided a bright spot, going 2 for 2 with two stolen bases.
A few hours later, the Lady Bobcats faced Weatherford. The final score, 13-3, reflected another uphill battle. Madison Canada started in the circle and pitched three innings, allowing 13 runs, 11 earned.
Offensively, Canada also delivered the highlight of the day, launching a home run to left field in the first inning that helped produce all three of Benbrook’s runs. Muzquiz, Mya Vasquez, Maddy Davila, and Canada each recorded a hit.
The Lady Bobcats now sit at 3-7 on the season and will close out tournament play against Plainview. For schedules and updates, visit https://www.maxpreps.com/tx/benbrook/benbrook-bobcats/softball/schedule/.
