The Lady Bobcats softball season is underway, and it has already delivered a little bit of everything.
The Lady Bobcats opened at home with a 17-6 loss to Cleburne after a tough first inning put them in an early hole. Natalya Muzquiz and Madison Canada shared pitching duties, and the offense saw contributions from Jolie Hornbeck, Ashley Austin, Esparanza Garza, and Mya Vasquez.
The response came quickly.
On the road against Everman Lady Bulldogs, the Lady Bobcats flipped the script with a 14-4 win. Canada powered the offense with a grand slam in the first inning and finished with five runs driven in. The Lady Bobcats racked up 13 hits, showed patience at the plate, and played clean defense without an error. They also turned aggressive on the bases, swiping 13 bags.
They kept rolling just hours later, shutting out Keene Lady Charters 16-0. Maddy Davila and Kaylee Boswell sparked the early scoring, while Alexis Phillips earned the win in the circle, striking out eight over three innings. The Lady Bobcats again showed discipline at the plate and speed on the bases, stealing 19 bases and committing no errors in the field.
The momentum stalled the next day against Tolar Lady Rattlers in an 11-3 loss, followed by a tight 9-8 defeat to Texas Wind Lady Skyhawks. In that heartbreaker, the Lady Bobcats jumped ahead early behind hits from Hornbeck, Davila, Boswell, and Garza. A triple from Muzquiz briefly regained the lead before defensive miscues and timely hitting by the Lady Skyhawks turned the game late.
Through five games, the Lady Bobcats sit at 2-3 on the season. The record tells one story. The energy, speed, and offensive firepower tell another.
