“Godspell” Brings Music, Story, and Community to Fort Worth Stage.

A familiar story is returning to the stage in a way that feels anything but ordinary.

Wedgwood Arts is presenting Godspell this weekend, a lively musical built around the teachings of Jesus through a series of parables from the Gospel of Matthew. Told through song, movement, and a playful ensemble style, the production leans into themes of love, kindness, and community, inviting the audience to both reflect and enjoy the moment.

Performances are set for Friday and Saturday, April 17 and 18 at 7:00 p.m., with a Sunday showing on April 19 at 4:00 p.m. The show will be held at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, located at 5709 Wedgwood Drive in Fort Worth.

Originally conceived and directed by John-Michael Tebelak, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, Godspell has long been known for its creative retelling of well-known passages, blending humor, heart, and music into a single experience.

Tickets are available online at https://www.wedgwoodarts.com/productions.

It is the kind of show that works on a couple of levels. You can come for the music and energy, or for the message beneath it. Either way, it tends to stay with you a little longer than expected.
