FWISD Ready to Welcome Students Back.

Backpacks are packed, alarms are set, and Fort Worth ISD students head back to class Monday.

In a first-day message to families, Superintendent Dr. Peter B. Licata said the district is beginning the new school year focused on strong instruction, student achievement and closer partnerships between schools and families.

FWISD also enters the year with a notable milestone. According to Licata, the district has no classroom teacher vacancies as of Sunday, meaning every classroom is expected to have a teacher on the first day. Every bus route also has a driver assigned.

Students who want breakfast and lunch will have access to free meals at school this year.

For Monday morning, families are encouraged to leave a little earlier than usual as heavier traffic, bus routes, arrival lines and dismissal procedures settle into their normal routines.

Licata also encouraged parents to start strong routines at home, stay connected with teachers and contact their child’s school when questions or concerns arise.

Most importantly, he emphasized that learning begins with the first bell.

โ€œEvery day matters,โ€ Licata told families, โ€œand we are committed to ensuring that every student receives the excellent education they deserve.โ€

For thousands of FWISD students, that next school year begins Monday morning.
