The Fort Worth Zoo is roaring with excitement after the birth of two lion cubs, Imara and Tamu, on June 29.
The siblings, a male and female, are the newest additions to their parents, Saba and Jabulani, joining their older brother, Moja, to form a growing pride.
Zookeepers say the cubs already show distinct personalities. Imara, whose name means strength in Swahili, is bold and adventurous, while her brother Tamu, meaning sweet, is calm and gentle. For now, they remain closely bonded with their mother behind the scenes, exploring and resting under her care.
The cubs are part of a North American cooperative breeding program designed to support the long-term health and genetic diversity of African lions. The zoo has even โbaby-proofedโ the lionsโ habitat with stepping stones and logs to give the little ones a safe place to grow.
Families eager to follow their journey can watch for updates on the Fort Worth Zooโs social media.
