Two Benbrook firefighters are heading west to help battle a wildfire that has grown to an estimated 50,000 acres in Palo Pinto County.
Benbrook Fire Department firefighters Matthew Bridges and Brian Reeves deployed Tuesday with the White Settlement Fire Department as part of a strike team assigned to the Ross Fire.
White Settlement Captain Kostyak and Firefighter Roeming also deployed aboard Brush 18 to support firefighting operations in the affected area.
According to a Texas A&M Forest Service update at 9:25 a.m., the Ross Fire was estimated at 50,000 acres and just 5% contained.
The deployment comes as North Texas fire departments lend personnel and equipment to the growing response in Palo Pinto County.
For Benbrook, two of those firefighters answering the call are now among the crews working the fire line.
