What started around a family backyard smoker 10 years ago is getting a permanent address.
Salmark BBQ has announced plans to open its first permanent location at 14330 U.S. 377, just south of Benbrook in the Whiskey Flats area. The barbecue spot will move into the former Gilligan’s Pizza location next to Bubba’s Bait.
For Salmark BBQ, the move marks a major step for a business its owners say began as a dream at their parents’ home a decade ago.
“I never would have imagined we’d be where we are today,” Glen McDougal, founder and owner of Salmark, shared in announcing the location, thanking customers for supporting the business through the years.
The goal is to make the new restaurant more than a place to grab barbecue. Salmark hopes to create a gathering spot where families can sit down together and enjoy the same kind of food its owners grew up eating in their own backyard.
Salmark has not yet announced an opening date, but says more details are coming.
