Western Hills Boys Soccer faced a demanding stretch and showed plenty of resolve.
On Teacher Appreciation Night against Dunbar, JV responded to an early deficit with authority. Elian Herrera scored his 13th goal of the season, Isaac Hinojos added another, and Adam Jupiter delivered a second-half hat trick in a 5-1 win. That makes five straight victories for JV.
Varsity created chances in the rain but fell 1-0 on a late Dunbar goal.
Friday at Diamond Hill Jarvis brought more momentum. JV earned a 2-0 win behind goals from Michael Martinez Ortiz and Sebastian Iriarte, the programโs first win over Diamond Hill Jarvis soccer program in more than six years.
Varsity struck early with two goals from Yeferson Tovar, but conceded a late winner after battling through injury, falling in heartbreaking fashion.
Both teams are back home this week against Southwest on Tuesday and Young Men’s Leadership Academy on Friday. JV plays at 6:30 p.m., varsity at 8:00 p.m. A strong crowd would match the effort this group continues to give.
