A few weeks ago, Diamond Hill-Jarvis handed Benbrook a tough 5-3 district loss. Friday night felt different from the start.
The Bobcats came in 9-9 overall and 4-3 in district, holding fourth place and riding a one-game win streak. The Eagles brought the same energy that caused problems the first time around, and the opening half turned into a back-and-forth battle. Diamond Hill struck first, but Benbrook answered quickly, sending the teams into halftime tied 1-1.
Early in the second half, the Eagles regained the lead and briefly shifted momentum. Instead of folding, the Bobcats responded with urgency. The equalizer came, followed by the go-ahead goal, and this time Benbrook closed it out with composure for a 3-2 victory.
The win moves the Bobcats to 10-9 on the season and 5-3 in district play, where they remain fourth in the standings.
Next up is a road trip to face Southwest, a team Benbrook edged 2-1 in their first district meeting. Later in the week, the Bobcats return home for another important matchup, looking to settle unfinished business against cross-town rival Western Hills.
District play is tightening, and Benbrook is right in the middle of it.
