Lady Bobcats Turn Defense Into a Statement Win.

The Benbrook Lady Bobcats came into Tuesday night riding a strong stretch of basketball, and they made sure it kept rolling.

Facing the Diamond Hill-Jarvis Lady Eagles, the Lady Bobcats wasted no time setting the tone. After the Lady Eagles scored first, Benbrook flipped the switch and never looked back.

A relentless full-court press turned the game into chaos for the Lady Eagles, forcing eight turnovers in the opening four minutes and completely controlling the pace.

Benbrook capitalized on every mistake. Giuliana Lucero, McKinzie Brookshier, Grace Klaerner, and Clarissa Lomas led a balanced attack as the Lady Bobcats stormed to a 22-3 lead after one quarter.

Clarissa Lomas (#14) knocks down a 3-pointer during the second quarter of Tuesday night’s matchup against Diamond-Hills Jarvis.

The pressure never let up in the second, with Jarvis struggling just to cross half court. Lomas capped the half with a three-pointer that sent the Lady Bobcats into the break up 38-6.

The third quarter brought a shift to half-court defense, but the result stayed the same. The Lady Eagles remained rattled and could not find any rhythm.

Grace Klaerner (#22) shoots a three-pointer during Tuesday night’s match-up against Diamond Hills Jarvis.

Then came the highlight. Off an inbound play, Klaerner calmly set her feet and launched a deep, high-arcing three that brought the bench and crowd to life. Benbrook finished the night holding Jarvis scoreless in the fourth and closed out a dominant 55-7 win.

The victory marks the Lady Bobcats’ third straight and pushes their overall record to 9-17, 5-2 in district play, good for second place in the standings.

With winter weather threatening the schedule, Benbrook shifts its focus to an early showdown. The Lady Bobcats will host the Southwest Lady Red Raiders on Thursday night at 7:30 pm in what should be a high-energy district matchup.
