What started as two days of competition at the district meet has turned into a long list of Bobcats moving on.
Benbrook Middle-High School track athletes delivered across the board at the 8-4A District Meet on March 31 and April 1, with multiple top finishes and a strong group qualifying for the Area Meet, set for April 16 in Springtown.
On the girls’ side, Lux Perez advanced in both shot put and discus, while Addison Bowden joined her in discus.
Kira Cleveland qualified in the long jump and will also run on two relay teams. Samantha Lindsey advanced in triple jump and multiple sprint events, and Juliana Velasquez qualified in high jump, relays, and the 400.
Distance runner Eve Carnegie will compete in the 800, 1600, and 3200.
The 4×100, 4×200, and 4×400 relay teams will also represent Benbrook at Area.
For the boys, depth showed up in both individual and relay events. Relay teams in the 4×100, 4×200, and 4×400 all advanced, led by runners including Jayden Hall, Quentin Thomas, Evan Kramer, and JJ Deane.
Individually, Quentin Thomas and Dorien Johnson qualified in sprint events, with Johnson also advancing in hurdles. Carson Roberts will compete in hurdles, while Jayden Deane moves on in the 400.
Owen Atkins qualified in both distance races, and Phillip McFadden advanced in the high jump.
In field events, Tyler Newman and Mac Shafer qualified in pole vault, and Jacob Carpenter moved on in both discus and shot put.
Benbrook will be well represented in Springtown, with athletes spread across nearly every event on the schedule.
