Students at Benbrook Middle-High School will need to keep their IDs visible, arrive to class on time, and use a digital pass whenever leaving class under rules being enforced beginning Monday, October 19.
The school has outlined expectations and consequences for students and families.
Student IDs
Students must wear their school-issued IDs around their necks and keep them visible throughout the day, including when entering classrooms.
Those without an ID will be sent to the front office. Replacement IDs cost $5, and students who do not pay may receive in-school suspension (ISS). A third occurrence without an ID also results in automatic ISS.
Tardies
Students arriving late to class must check in before returning.
In A Building, students report to the front office for a tardy receipt. In B Building, students report to Room 302.
Beginning with the fourth tardy, students receive ISS for each additional tardy. Tardy counts reset every six weeks.
Families should provide documentation for medical appointments or other documented reasons for arriving late so attendance can be recorded correctly.
Digital Hall Passes
Students must now request a digital pass through a classroom QR code or their teacher’s Canvas page before leaving class.
The system limits how many students can be out at once and how frequently passes can be used. Students must show teachers their approved passes, check themselves in and out, and use the nearest restroom.
Students found in hallways without an active pass, exceeding their approved time, or going to an unauthorized location may face disciplinary consequences.
The school also requires students to have charged computers to request passes.
For BMHS families, the biggest takeaway is simple: wear your ID, get to class on time, and have an approved pass before heading into the hallway.
