In an emergency, clear communication can make a difficult moment a little easier. Elliott’s Voice is helping Benbrook Police make room for people who communicate differently.
The organization is delivering AAC communication boards, training materials, and a training video to the Benbrook Police Department today. The resources are designed to help officers communicate with people who may have difficulty speaking or expressing what they need during an emergency.
AAC, or augmentative and alternative communication, can give someone another way to answer questions, identify needs, or make themselves understood when spoken communication is difficult.
For Elliott’s Voice, the effort comes down to something simple: making sure people have a way to be heard when it matters most.
