Benbrook Middle-High School Introducing New Tardy and Hall Pass System.

โ€ข

Students at Benbrook Middle-High School will soon see changes to how tardies and hall passes are handled as the school prepares to introduce a new automated system called Student Conductor.

Under the new system, students arriving late to class will report to a kiosk near the front office of their building, scan their student ID or enter their ID number, and receive a printed pass to class.

Beginning with a student’s fourth tardy, they will be assigned to in-school suspension (ISS) for the remainder of that day. Each additional tardy will result in the same consequence. Students who fail to report to ISS may face further disciplinary action.

The system also introduces digital hall passes, limiting students to two passes per day, although certain types of passes will not count toward that limit. Students with documented medical accommodations, including qualifying 504 plans or IEPs, will be exempt from the restrictions.

Teachers and administrators will be able to monitor how many students are out of class, where they’re permitted to go, and how long they’ve been gone. High school students will also be required to use restrooms assigned to their classroom floor, with the fine arts area assigned to the gym restrooms.

School officials say the changes are intended to reduce classroom disruptions and improve accountability during the school day.

An official start date has not yet been announced. BMHS says it will notify families before the new system takes effect and encourages parents to discuss the importance of arriving at school and class on time.
