Fort Worth ISD is expanding its search for teachers to fill classrooms ahead of the 2026-2027 school year.
An email recently sent by Teach Fort Worth informed some applicants whose teaching applications had previously been declined that, due to “recent program updates,” they are now eligible for reconsideration for potential teaching opportunities. The district is asking recipients to complete a form identifying their preferred grade levels and subject areas, as immediate openings remain.
The outreach has drawn attention from FWISD Watchdog, which questioned why the district is revisiting previously rejected applicants following instructional hiring fairs held on June 24 and June 27.
The group also raised questions about what the district means by “recent program updates,” suggesting the changes could involve hiring teachers without traditional state certification through District of Innovation provisions.
However, the email does not explain what the updates are, and Fort Worth ISD has not publicly stated that it is pursuing or expanding a District of Innovation designation as part of this hiring effort.
As the new school year approaches, the discussion highlights ongoing concerns about teacher recruitment, certification, and staffing across the district. Parents who have questions about teacher qualifications or hiring policies are encouraged to contact Fort Worth ISD directly.
