The man who lost his life while trying to rescue a child at Benbrook Lake has been identified.
According to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s public records (case 2610506), Riley Adam Haynes, 37, died after entering the water Saturday in an effort to save a child. His body was recovered on Monday morning at 9 am following a three-day search. The official cause and manner of death remain pending.
As previously reported by Benbrook Life, difficult conditions, including strong winds, rough water, and submerged trees, slowed search-and-recovery efforts.
Haynes’ final act was one of extraordinary courage. Please continue to keep his family, the child involved, first responders, and everyone impacted by this heartbreaking tragedy in your thoughts and prayers.
