Texas Has a New Miss America.

For the first time in more than 50 years, the Miss America crown is coming home to Texas.

Regan Hutsell, a 25-year-old Houston native and former Radio City Rockette, was crowned the 99th Miss America, becoming the first Miss Texas to win since 1975. Hutsell also made history as the first Miss America crowned while wearing her natural hair.

Her win gives Texans plenty to celebrate, and North Texas may have another reason to cheer soon.

Callie Welty of Johnson County is Miss Rodeo Texas, bringing the excitement a little closer to home as supporters hope another Texas title could lead to a national crown.

For now, after a five-decade wait, Miss America is once again Miss Texas.
