Friday night football, Texas-sized mums, a packed Benbrook crowd, and a big Bobcat victory made for a memorable Homecoming 2026 at Farrington Field.

After a week of festivities and the annual Homecoming parade, Benbrook Middle-High School fans filled the stands Friday, October 23, as the Bobcats faced the Diamond Hill-Jarvis Eagles in an important district matchup.

Entering the game 4-3 overall and 2-2 in district play, Benbrook was looking to strengthen its playoff position against an Eagles team still searching for its first district victory.
Before kickoff, the Benbrook Middle-High School Choir, directed by Dr. Emily Saenz, delivered a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem as the school’s JROTC presented the colors.
Benbrook’s defense set the tone immediately, forcing Diamond Hill-Jarvis into a turnover on downs on its opening possession.
Despite losing running back Quentin Thomas to a high-ankle sprain on his first carry, the Bobcats moved the ball effectively. Jaxyn Donart powered into the end zone from one yard out, giving Benbrook an early 7-0 lead.

Austin Cross recovered an Eagles fumble deep in Diamond Hill-Jarvis territory, setting up another touchdown by Ayden Bruck. The Bobcats finished the first quarter ahead 13-0.
The second quarter brought more of the same.
After blocking an Eagles field goal attempt, Benbrook quarterback Lucas Davis, who went 16 of 25 for 281 passing yards and 5 TDs, connected with Evan Smith, who caught 5 passes for 150 yards and 3 TDs, for a 47-yard touchdown that extended the lead to 20-0.
Brayden King then intercepted an Eagles pass, giving Benbrook another chance to score. Davis found Dorien Johnson on a screen pass, and Johnson shook off multiple defenders for a touchdown that made it 27-0.

But perhaps the night’s most memorable play came as the first half expired.
Facing fourth-and-22, Davis launched a 27-yard pass intended for Athan Felker. The ball was tipped into the air, where Smith made an alert catch inbounds for his second touchdown of the night. Benbrook headed into halftime with a commanding 34-0 lead.
With the teams in the locker rooms, attention turned to the announcement of Benbrook’s 2026 Homecoming King and Queen.
Senior king nominees included Keaton Hennessey, Tanner Madara, and Kyler Parsons, while queen nominees were McKinzie Brookshier, Mia Fullerton, and Serenity Murray.

The Bobcats kept rolling in the second half.
After a kickoff return touchdown was called back for holding, Davis led another scoring drive and connected with Austin Cross on a six-yard touchdown pass to make it 40-0.
Diamond Hill-Jarvis responded with its first touchdown, but Davis and Smith answered with a 35-yard scoring connection, giving Smith his third touchdown reception of the evening.
The Eagles added another touchdown early in the fourth quarter before Cash Bergen scored on a five-yard run, pushing Benbrook’s lead to 52-12.
To their credit, the Eagles continued battling and scored on a fourth-and-12 touchdown pass with just two seconds remaining, bringing the final score to 52-19 in favor of Benbrook.
With the victory, Benbrook improves to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in district play, moving into third place in the standings. Next up is a familiar opponent.
The Bobcats will face the crosstown rival Western Hills Cougars on Friday, October 30, at 7 p.m. at Clark Stadium for Senior Night.
Western Hills enters the matchup 2-6 overall and 1-4 in district play following a 58-29 Homecoming loss to Carter-Riverside.
For Benbrook, Friday’s win was more than a Homecoming celebration. It was another important step toward finishing the regular season strong.
