Benbrook Choir Students Set New Mark at UIL Competition.

BENBROOK, TX — Just before spring break, a group of middle school students stepped onto a stage and quietly made school history.

The 7th and 8th-grade choirs from Benbrook Middle-High School traveled to Arborlawn United Methodist Church for the UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest, marking the first time the school brought four middle school choirs to compete.

By the end of the event, the results spoke clearly. The Beginner Treble Choir earned superior ratings in concert performance, while the Intermediate and Varsity choirs each brought home sweepstakes awards, the highest honor given at UIL.

It is a milestone moment for the program. This marks the first time in school history that three middle school choirs have earned sweepstakes in the same year. It also marks the first time a middle school tenor-bass choir from Benbrook has reached that level.

Under the direction of Mr. Jacob Brown, the choirs have been building toward this kind of performance, one rehearsal at a time. For the students, it reflects more than a score sheet. It is the result of learning to listen, work together, and grow in confidence.

For Benbrook, it is another reminder that some of the most meaningful wins happen in places where effort and discipline come together, often long before anyone else is watching.
