Lady Bobcats Hoops Close Strong, Set for Playoff Matchup with Krum.

The Lady Bobcats walked into their final regular-season game Tuesday night knowing one thing for sure. A playoff berth was already secured. What they did not know was who would be waiting on the other side.

Before any scoreboard watching, the Lady Bobcats had business to handle against the Lady Wildcats at Wilkerson-Greines. The Lady Bobcats had beaten the Lady Wildcats earlier in district play and needed one more steady performance to close out the season on the right note.

The first quarter told the story early. Grace Klaerner poured in 10 points to spark a 14-1 start, while the Lady Bobcats’ press defense forced turnover after turnover. By halftime, Benbrook led 21-7 and looked in control.

The third quarter tested that control. The Lady Wildcats opened with a 6-0 run as the Lady Bobcats struggled with turnovers and pace.

A timely timeout helped reset the tone. Giuliana Lucero attacked the rim, converted at the line, and helped steady the group. By the end of the third, the Lady Bobcats led 25-13.

Giuliana Velasquez (#5) sets the Lady Bobcats offense in the district matchup between Benbrook and Dunbar on Tuesday night.

In the final stretch, Juliana Velasquez and Klaerner helped extend the margin and secure a 33-19 victory. Klaerner finished with 12 points, Velasquez added 10, Lucero chipped in 6, and the bench contributed key minutes to close it out.

The Lady Bobcats end the regular season 12-9 overall and 8-4 in district play, good for second place. Now the focus shifts to postseason play against the Krum Lady Cats, which earned its playoff spot with a 66-63 overtime win over Bridgeport to finish 19-17 on the season.

The Lady Bobcats and the Lady Cats will meet at 6 pm on Monday, February 16, at Nolan Catholic High School, 4501 Bridge St in Fort Worth. For updates and more details, visit https://www.instagram.com/p/DUogU5fD_KY/.
