Friday night basketball in Fort Worth delivered exactly what fans hope for when two teams meet with pride on the line.
The Western Hills Cougars traveled to face the Diamond Hill-Jarvis Eagles and turned in one of their most complete efforts of the season. While both programs have faced challenges in the win column, neither played like it. The game stayed competitive from start to finish, with both teams trading momentum and fighting for every possession.
When the final minutes arrived, Western Hills found another gear. The Cougars executed on offense, locked in defensively, and closed the night strong to secure a hard-earned road win, 56-45. It marked Diamond Hill-Jarvisโs 17th loss of the season and eighth in district play.
For the Cougars, the victory brought their overall record to 8-19 and their district record to 4-6, placing them fifth. It also wrapped up their final road game of the season on a positive note, sending them back home with confidence for the stretch run.
That confidence will be tested quickly. Up next is a home matchup with the Southwest Raiders, the district leaders at 22-7 overall and unbeaten in district play. The Raiders are riding a 12-game win streak and defeated Western Hills decisively in their earlier meeting.
Tuesday night at 7:30 pm offers a new chapter. The Cougars will be back on their home floor with a chance to measure themselves against the top team in the district.
This is our opportunity to show up, be loud, and support a team that continues to compete with heart until the final buzzer.
