A stiff North Texas wind made itself the toughest opponent Friday afternoon as the Benbrook Lady Bobcats took the field for their second match of the X-Town Tourney at Rough Rider Stadium in Saginaw.
Facing Montgomery, both teams traded strong defensive stands and attacking chances, but the swirling gusts kept control at a premium. Benbrook broke through thanks to a clutch moment from Grace Klaerner, whose well-struck free kick slipped just under the crossbar and into the net. Montgomery answered later, and the match finished even at one goal apiece.
The draw moves the Benbrook Lady Bobcats Soccer to 1-0-1 in tournament play and 5-1-1 on the season. The Lady Bobcats are back on the field Saturday morning at 10:30 am, taking on Wylie as they continue their push through the bracket.
Stay tuned for more updates as Benbrook continues to battle toward a strong tournament finish.
