There’s a growing divide between what Fort Worth ISD says and what many families and educators are seeing, per FWISD Watchdog. The district’s motto, “One Fort Worth ISD,” sounds great in theory. But the numbers tell a different story.
Enrollment is shrinking. Test scores are slipping. Teachers are walking away. Meanwhile, central office salaries continue to rise, and more schools are being closed. The city appears to be gradually acquiring school properties, particularly in areas like Farrington Field, where real estate values are on the rise. This has left many residents wondering whether decisions are being made with students in mind or if they’re more about deals being made behind the scenes.
Follow the money and you’ll find campaign donors, political action committees, and construction contracts worth millions. While students struggle, some board members are dining with donors at high-end steakhouses. Nonprofits affiliated with the district are paying their executives six-figure salaries, while classrooms are being emptied.
It raises a simple but important question: Who is Fort Worth ISD working for? Because it doesn’t look like it’s the kids.
