Fort Worth ISD Weighs Major School Closures and Consolidations.

Fort Worth, TX—Fort Worth ISD is undergoing major changes, including school closures, consolidations, and rezoning, per a post on the FWISD Watchdog Facebook page

At a recent school board workshop, Deputy Superintendent Kellie Spencer updated the district’s Facility Master Plan and outlined potential shifts that could impact students, parents, and teachers across the city.

The plan, developed with data from HPM, explores a range of restructuring options—including closing multiple elementary, middle, and high schools, converting campuses for different grade levels, and even building a new high school in Benbrook.

While no votes were taken, discussions are underway that could reshape the district.

Potential School Closures and Changes

Several campuses could face closure, including:

  • Westcliff Elementary
  • Milton L. Kirkpatrick Elementary
  • Hubbard Heights Elementary
  • Richard J. Wilson Elementary
  • Western Hills High School
  • Daggett Middle School
  • De Zavala Elementary
  • S.S. Dillow Elementary
  • And many more…

Beyond closures, other proposals include:

  • Converting Western Hills High School into a middle school feeding into Arlington Heights High School.
  • Constructing a new 2,000-student high school in Benbrook.
  • Transitioning Benbrook Middle-High School into a standalone middle school.
  • Turning J.T. Stevens Elementary into a school of choice.
  • Making Seminary Hills Park Elementary a Pre-K center.
  • Restructuring multiple middle schools into elementary or K-8 campuses.

With elections approaching, parents and taxpayers have a chance to make their voices heard. Board decisions will impact the entire district, so community input is crucial.
