A teacher’s heartfelt remarks during Fort Worth ISD’s summer listening session at Benbrook Middle-High School are sparking conversation across the community.

Digital creator Chris Tackett highlighted comments from Benbrook educator Randi Wheeler, who spoke during the meeting hosted by the state-appointed Fort Worth ISD Board of Managers.

According to Tackett, Wheeler offered an honest perspective on what she believes is not working in the district, sharing concerns that many educators may quietly share.

The listening sessions, organized by the board appointed by Governor Greg Abbott, Commissioner Mike Morath, and the Texas Education Agency, ask participants to respond to a series of prepared questions as district leaders gather public feedback.

Tackett encouraged residents to watch Wheeler’s remarks, describing them as both candid and courageous. The video was recorded by Ambika Sharma during the Benbrook session.

Listening sessions have already been held at North Side High School, Southwest High School, Benbrook Middle-High School, and Paschal High School. The final session is scheduled for tonight at Dunbar High School.

Whether you agree with Wheeler’s perspective or not, the discussion reflects the importance of educators, parents, students, and community members continuing to participate in conversations about the future of Fort Worth ISD.
