FWISD Listening Session in Benbrook Draws Attention Ahead of Community Meeting.

As Fort Worth ISD continues its summer listening tour, some community members are encouraging parents, taxpayers, and stakeholders to attend and ask questions.

One of the district’s upcoming Board of Managers Listening Sessions is scheduled for June 25 at 5 p.m. at Benbrook Middle-High School. The meetings are intended to give residents an opportunity to share feedback and engage with district leadership.

Ahead of the event, FWISD Watchdog highlighted several topics it believes deserve discussion.

Among the questions raised are whether future listening sessions could begin later in the evening to better accommodate working parents, why sessions are not being held in every district pyramid, and whether student-athletes, marching band members, and fine arts participants will be allowed to attend UIL events and competitions during instructional time.

The post also questioned whether Board of Managers Chairman Pete Geren’s involvement with The Best School, a proposed charter school initiative, presents a potential conflict of interest while serving on the board.

The district has not publicly addressed those specific questions regarding the upcoming session.

For residents with opinions on the direction of Fort Worth ISD, the Benbrook meeting offers an opportunity to speak directly with district leadership and be part of the conversation.

Sometimes the most important questions are the ones asked in person.
