Three More Texas School Districts Placed Under State Control.

In a major shakeup to close out 2025, three more Texas school districts have been placed under state oversight.

Connally, Lake Worth, and Beaumont ISDs are now set to operate under a Texas Education Agency board of managers and a state-appointed superintendent.

The announcement came today after the TEA completed a review of each district’s academic performance, leadership, and internal systems. Lake Worth ISD, a smaller district in Tarrant County, has struggled with sustained low academic ratings. Beaumont ISD, a much larger district in Jefferson County, faces its own long-term challenges tied to poverty and uneven student outcomes. Connally ISD has also been under close watch following academic and governance concerns.

TEA Commissioner Mike Morath notified each superintendent and school board that a board of managers will replace their elected trustees. Those seats will be filled by local residents who apply and are selected to guide the districts through the state’s required reform period. Anyone interested in serving can find details at https://tea.texas.gov/texas-schools/school-boards/school-governance/board-of-managers.

A new superintendent for each district will be named later, as required by state law.

This story is still developing, and additional updates will follow as more information becomes available.
