A Saturday competition turned into a proud moment for Western Hills High School.
At the Region 30 UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest, WHHS choir students delivered strong performances that earned top ratings and a ticket to Austin this May.
Seven students and one ensemble qualified for the State Solo and Ensemble Contest after receiving 1C ratings, which advance to the next level.
In Class One solos, Daniel Andrade, Leslie Burton, Amy Guzman, Desmond Lewis, Ryan Mundy, Joshua Raga, and DaiโJuan Williams earned 1C ratings.
The Class One Ensemble of Malachi Hatton, Ryan Mundy, Joshua Raga, and DaiโJuan Williams also advanced with a 1C.
Annabelle Rivas earned a Division 2 rating in Class Two solo competition.
In Class Three Ensemble, Alahna Dominguez, Sophia Ellison, Autumn Garcia, Jaiden Gipson, Sophia Gonzalez, Layla Howard, Gisselle Lazo, and Tania Salazar each earned Division 1 ratings.
For families and neighbors in Benbrook, it is another reminder of the talent growing inside local classrooms and rehearsal halls.
Months of practice paid off in just a few minutes on stage, and now these Cougars will carry that momentum to Austin to represent their school and community on the state level.
