Plans for a new University of Texas at Arlington campus in west Fort Worth are gaining momentum after the UT System approved more than $150 million for the first building.
UTA West will be located along Interstate 30 near Parker County on a 51-acre site. The first phase will include classrooms, labs, a student center, a library, and a cafรฉ. The campus is expected to open to students in fall 2028.
University leaders say the campus is designed to bring more higher education opportunities closer to residents in this rapidly growing part of North Texas. Programs will be shaped by workforce needs and developed in coordination with nearby institutions such as Weatherford College and Tarrant County College.
Degrees earned at the campus will be from the University of Texas at Arlington. Additional buildings will be added over time as enrollment grows.
