If last week’s reported bobcat sighting had you wondering whether it was real, the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge has shared new footage that leaves little doubt.
The refuge recently captured video of a bobcat carrying a freshly caught squirrel, offering another glimpse of one of North Texas’ most elusive predators in action.
The sighting comes just days after Benbrook residents reported seeing what appeared to be a bobcat leap onto a fence before pouncing on a squirrel.
While some questioned whether those images were AI-generated, this latest video reinforces that bobcats are very much a part of the local landscape.
According to the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge, bobcats play an important role in the ecosystem. With wolves and mountain lions largely absent from developed areas, these mid-sized predators help keep wildlife populations, including squirrels and other small animals, in balance.
While bobcats generally avoid people, sightings can happen in and around natural areas as they quietly move through their territory in search of food. For residents, it’s another reminder that even in a growing urban region, North Texas wildlife is never too far away.
