A small grass fire prompted a response from Benbrook emergency crews just after 2:20 p.m. Thursday, according to CrimeRadar.app.
The smoke was reported near the westbound US 377 bridge, between the service road and the main lanes. Responding personnel determined the smoke was coming from a small grass fire, and the Benbrook Fire Department was called in to safely extinguish it.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
With temperatures expected to remain in the triple digits through this week and into next, dry vegetation can increase the risk of grass fires. Residents are encouraged to use extra caution outdoors and report any signs of smoke or fire promptly.
This is a developing story. Stay tuned for updates as more information becomes available.
