A small mulch fire prompted a response from Benbrook emergency crews just after 1 p.m. today at the Whataburger on Benbrook Boulevard, according to CrimeRadar.app.
Dispatch reports indicate the fire was located in the landscaping mulch near the restaurant’s drive-through windows. The caller told dispatch the fire may have been caused by a discarded cigarette.
An employee reportedly attempted to extinguish the fire using a fire extinguisher that had previously been discharged during a July 4 incident. When first responders arrived, they found no visible smoke or flames, and the fire appeared to have already burned out.
No injuries or damage have been reported.
This is a developing story. Stay tuned for updates as more information becomes available.
