September is shaping up to be a busy month at the Benbrook Senior Citizens Center, with plenty of reasons to pull up a chair, play a game or simply spend some time with neighbors.
Along with weekly favorites such as Mahjong, bridge, canasta, dominoes, Hand and Foot, and Pegs and Jokers, the month includes Birthday Bingo on Sept. 2, Friday Night Bingo on Sept. 4, a Sept. 9 field trip to Ginger Brown’s Old Tyme Restaurant & Bakery and rock painting on Sept. 16.
The center will close early at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, before reopening that evening for Friday Night Bingo from 6 to 8:30 p.m. It will also be closed Monday, Sept. 7, for Labor Day.
One calendar change is already worth noting. A Sept. 23 “Dine and Unwind” outing is listed for Rio Mambo, but the Fort Worth restaurant has since closed, so participants should watch for an updated plan from the center.
Located at Benbrook City Hall, the Senior Citizens Center is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.
